JOB OBJECTIVES

The job objectives of a GL Review officer is daily spooling of General Ledger (GL) balances of branches and head office departments. Furthermore, to review the GLE pull out of GL sub-heads. Lastly, preparation of Monthly Income and also Expenses trends for input into the MANCO financial report.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are the duties and responsibilities of GL Review officer:

  • Firstly, to liaise with branches on reasons for drop / increase in income / expenditures of the bank.
  • Secondly, to liaise with branches and other departments having abnormal balances in their suspense accounts to regularize.
  • Also, to collaborating with internal control department to ensure that all suspense account in GL are cleared timely by branches and other departments responsible for such reconciliation.
  • Responsible for the daily Review of Trial Balance of the bank for trend analysis.
  • Duty of obtaining and reviewing of proof of accounts from branches and head office departments.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF GL REVIEW OFFICER

  • Furthermore, will handle the provision of audit requirements for External and Internal Audits.
  • More so, responsible for the preparation of weekly Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Enhanced FCY report on Other Assets and Liabilities.
  • The duty of providing schedules and other requirements for Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) examiners.
  • Another duty is to ensuring that amortization of the branches / Rent prepayment.
  • Responsible to participate in special projects in the bank e.g. Oracle GL, Finacle etc.
  • To assist to ensure that the bank’s financial reports represent true and also fair view of the Bank’s operation.
  • Lastly, to perform ad-hoc responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be professional in accounting with any of the following qualification ACCA, ACA, CPA or its equivalent.
  • Applicants must have at least six (6) years post Qualification years experiences.
  • You must also have relevant / specific banking experience in addition.
  • Applicants must have broad understanding of banking practice.
  • Lastly applicants must have a sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and also IFRS Accounting Policy.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
  • Applicant must have good interpersonal and also communication skills.
  • Secondly, must have an eye on detail and accuracy with a strong analytical capability.
  • Lastly, applicant must have high level of computer literacy.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must have a minimum of B.Tech ACA
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Word and MS Excel. With a minimum of two (2) years of experience.
