JOB OBJECTIVES OF FIRSTBANK CATEGORY SPECIALIST TECHNOLOGY LAGOS
The following are the job objective of FirstBank Category Specialist Technology, Lagos Nigeria.
- First, employee of this category Specialist are to support the Category Manager in ensuring that the tendering, prompt delivery and sourcing of Technology portfolio (hardware, software, application development and managed services) which are in line with the Category Strategy.
- They are to manage sourcing activities for relevant category and support the implementation of Category Strategy.
- Lastly, to efficiently manage the Banks’s expenditure budget (CAPEX and OPEX) for category related procurement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CATEGORY SPECIALIST (TECHNOLOGY)

- First, employees in this categories will be responsible for implementing Technology Category Management Strategies and activities across multiple dimensions which include category analysis, contract implementation, and supplier relationship improvement initiatives to increase market competitiveness and sustain ongoing category improvements.
- Secondly, you must proactively work with Category Manager (Technology) to identify and plan category procurement activities for the financial year. They will also periodically review category spend to identify and pursue strategic sourcing and demand management opportunities.
- Furthermore, you will also execute Go-To-Market strategic by utilizing an end-to-end value chain approach – specifically, obtain complete and accurate business requirements from the end users. You will be responsible to develop RFx (RFI/RFQ/RFP) documents. Also you will be responsible for identification of qualified vendors: manage source to contract until PO is finally created.
- You will be responsible for collating responses from vendors and then liaise with the various committee (TEC, PMC) for evaluation.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance to the Bank’s Procurement Policy and Standards. Lastly, set guidelines for category related products or service.
- Lastly, Responsible to ensuring adherence to defined parameters for quality assurance of goods / services received including the escalation route for complaints / rejection.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must prepare various periodic report of trend analysis for the procurement volumes and also cycles to support the various category management activities.
- Must proactively perform market surveys to verify competitiveness of purchase prices and also best value specifications for procurement categories.
- Responsible to identify relevant external market trends with respect to the technology industry.
- Responsible for providing input for supplier appraisal via supplier audits, performance evaluations etc. to validate ability of suppliers to meet defined standards and rate suppliers accordingly.
- Also collaborate with centralized admin for invoicing. Furthermore, helps with payment of suppliers and resolve or escalate identified issues (if any)
- Will supervise and coach Category Analysts
- Will also undertake any other responsibilities as requested by the Category Manager in accordance with the scope and responsibilities of the role.
- Lastly, must comply with the principles and policies in the Information Security Hand book of the bank.
