APPLICATION FOR DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION COURSE 28/2024

Firstly, eligible Nigerians are invited to apply into the Nigerian Army (NA) as Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) officers. Hence, the vacancy for DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION in the Nigerian army is open to both serving military personnel and civilians. Generally, consideration is given to serving military personnel who are sponsored in public institution by the Nigerian Armed Forces.

DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION

CORPS AND SERVICES:

Application is accepted into one of the following Corps and Services on the Nigerian Army:
NIGERIAN ARMY ENGINEERS: the minimum qualification is BSc (Eng), B Eng (second class lower) or HND (lower credit) in the one of the following fields: Civil Engineering, Land Surveyor, GIS/Survey, Building Engineering/ Technology, Structural Engineering, Estate Management, and Architecture. Moreover, Applicants with the above qualification must register with the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or other Engineering (professional) Regulatory Bodies.

• NIGERIAN ARMY SIGNALS: Accordingly, applicants to this corps must possess a minimum of BSc, B Tech, B.Engr. (second class lower) or HND (lower credit) in one of the following fields: Cyber Security, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Geographic Information Systems Engineering, Satellite Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Database Management Engineering and Administrator, UAV Pilot, Computer Engineering, Project Manager Engineering and System Control Engineering, Control Security Engineering and Computer Engineering.

NIGERIAN ARMY INTELLIGENCE CORPS: Minimum qualification is BSc, B Tech, B.Engr. (second class lower) or HND (lower credit) in anyone of the following discipline: Digital Forensics/Forensic Analysis, Linguistics, Peace and Conflict Analysis, Local Language Experts (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Fulfulde and Kanuri), History, Computational Linguistics, Cyber/Network Security, Computer Science, Psychology, French, Arabic, , Information Technology Systems, Political Science/International and Public Relations, GIS/GEOINT, Digital/Computer Forensics, Social Media Specialist, Data Analyst, Network Engineering and Information Technology Systems.

NIGERIAN ARMY CORPS OF SUPPLY AND TRANSPORT: A minimum of BSc, BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) is required in the following fields: , Railway Operations Management, Petrochemical Engineering, Logistics Management, Dieticians, Shipping and Supply Chain Management, Food and Nutrition, Automotive Engineering. Working experience will be off added advantage.

 NIGERIAN ARMY MEDICAL CORPS FOR DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION:

All applicants into these categories must presents their evidence of registration with their difference professional bodies. On the whole, they must present their practicing license.
MEDICAL CONSULTANTS OF VARIOUS DISCIPLINES; must belong to any of the areas of specialization: Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Cardiothoracic, Orthopaedic Surgery, Physicians (Cardiologists, Endocrinologist, Nephrologists and Neurologists) Neuro-Surgery, Pediatricians, Ophthalmologists as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecologists, ENT Surgery, and Family Medicine Physicians. General Requirements for Medical Corps: applicant must be
• One important, a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or equivalent Postgraduate Medical College
• Not be more than 40 years of age by July, 2024

• Have current practicing license.
Medical Doctors (non-consultant): Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery / Bachelor of Dental surgery respectively. Must be registered members of respective bodies with current practicing license.
Other corps for Medical corps includes; Nurses, Professional, Allied to Medicine, and Pharmacist. Minimum qualification for the above listed corps are BSc Nursing, Bachelor of Pharmacy. Must be dully registered with practicing licenses in their respective fields.

 NIGERIAN ARMY ORDINANCE CORP, LECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS, MILITARY POLICE,

NIGERIAN ARMY ORDINANCE CORP;  A minimum of BSc, B Eng., BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) in one of the following fields: Graphic Design, Textile Technology, Explosives Engineering, Graphics Art and Ballistics. Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Printing Technology, Warehouse Management, Industrial Design, Explosive Science and Technology, Inventory Management, Inventory Control and management, and Textile Design.

NIGERIAN ARMY ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS: B Eng, BSc (Eng) (Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) in one of the discipline; Weapon and Marine Engineering system, Industrial/Production Engineering, Automotive, Mechatronics, Marine Architecture, Electronics, , Mechanical Engineering, and Material Science. Applicants with the above qualification must register with the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

NIGERIAN ARMY CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE; any interested applicants must possess a minimum of LLB BL, BSc, BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) in either one of Psychology, Criminology, Forensic Science and Veterinary Doctors.

NIGERIAN ARMY EDUCATION CORPS; interested applicants must possess a minimum of BSc (Ed) or BA (Ed) Second Class Lower degree in Physical and Health Education, Mathematics, Political Science, Guidance and Counselling, Electronics, Education Administration/Management, Curriculum Development/Studies, Museology, Agricultural Science, Islamic Religious Studies, English Language, Christian Religious Studies, Military History/History, Hausa, French, Yoruba, Igbo, Portuguese, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Public Administration, , Museum and Archival Studies, Library and Information Science, Computer Science/ICT, Economics, Education Technology, Arabic, Fine Art/Theatre Arts, Arts/Languages, Geography and Accounting. All applicant must present their evidence of registration with their professional bodies.

FINANCE CORPS, BAND CORPS, PUBLIC RELATIONS, LEGAL SERVICE AND  PHYSICAL TRAINING

NIGERIAN ARMY FINANCE CORPS: Applicant must possess a minimum of BA ((Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) in one of the following fields; Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business & Financial Management, and Economics. Professional Accountancy Qualification like ICAN, ANAN, ACMA, ACCA, ACA is mandatory.

NIGERIAN ARMY BAND CORPS; BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND Lower Credit or equivalent in Music with an Associate of Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) and Associate of Royal College of Music (ARCM), Musicologist.

DIRECTORATE OF ARMY PUBLIC RELATIONS; BSc, BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) in one of the following fields; Digital Media Studies, Journalism, Radio Production, Mass Communication, Printing Technology, Television Production, Strategic Communication and Public Relations, Animation and Graphic Design, , Cinematography, Public Affairs, Social Media Communications. Thus, applicants must show evidence of registration for a professional bodies like journalism and media operation.

DIRECTORATE OF LEGAL SERVICE; LLB BL from a recognized institution. Minimum of two years of practice.
DIRECTORATE OF ARMY PHYSICAL TRAINING; BSc or BA (Second Class Lower) degree or HND (Lower Credit) in Physical Health Education, Human Kinetics, Sports and Exercise Medicine, Sports Coaching, Physiotherapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Sports Law, and Sports Psychology. It is mandatory for applicants to have a certificate from National Institute of Sports in Athletics, Ball Games, Racket Games, Aquatics, Combat Sports and Golf in general.

 RELIGIOUS CORPS: ROMAN CATHOLIC, PROTESTANT AND ISLAMIC AFFAIRS

 • DIRECTORATE OF CHAPLAIN SERVICES (ROMAN CATHOLIC); minimum of B.A (Second Class Lower) degree in Philosophy or Theology. Must be an Ordained Catholic Priest from a Roman Catholic approved seminary, affiliated to a National Universities Commission accredited University or Urbanian University, Rome. Hence, must be released by his Diocesan Bishop with a proof of ordination. Lastly, recommended by the NA Directorate of Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic).

DIRECTORATE OF CHAPLAIN SERVICES (PROTESTANT); A minimum of BA (Second Class Lower) degree in Divinity Theology from any of the Seminaries/Universities recognized by the NA Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant). Hence, must belong to one of the 18 major denominations of the protestant faith. Lastly, must be recommended by the NA Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant) and present prove of ordination attestation and certification by an ordained Bishop.

DIRECTORATE OF ISLAMIC AFFAIRS; BA, B Ed (Second Class Lower) degree in any of the following fields: Arabic and Islamic Studies, Islamic Jurisprudence, Comparative Religious Studies, LLB Sharia, Islamic Theology, Hadith Sciences, Islamic Studies, Qur’anic Exegesis, Arabic, and Qur’anic Science from any recognized university Azhar University, Cairo or Saudi University. Besides, applicant are required to produce testimony of excellent character from a reputable Islamic religious organization in Nigeria. And must speak Arabic and English Languages in general.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The following are the entry requirement for Direct Short Service Commission:
•Be a Nigerian as specify by the 1999 constitution
• Must be between the ages of 20 – 30. Medical consultant 25 – 40 years by April 2024.
• Must be medically, mentally and physically fit
• Two recognizable referees must recommend an applicant.
• Must submit letter of attestation from formal institution
• Height of 1.68m tall ( males) and 1.65m tall (females)
• Must not be an ex-convict by court of law
• Degree must not be less than second class lower or lower division by grade from accredited institution of learning in general .

• Possess a valid NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter accordingly.
• Post-secondary certificate should not be beyond 2014.

• Choose on if you have served or serving in the Nigerian arm forces. Hence, Select appropriate option.
• Then, Click on ‘‘Sign Up’’ if you have not created account before. (Check your email for verification email) enter the login details sent to your email.
• Finally, Fill your data correctly and upload your documents accordingly; passport, educational certificate, evidence of professional membership, certificate of state of origin, birth certificate, and NIN/BVN
Print out the necessary photo-slip for signing by proper authorities on completion. Moreover, applicants must submits their signed forms together with their original certificates at the examination venue for review.
